In 2014 the King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf inaugurated the opened and restored pristine river bed where the old hydropower dam had been removed abruptly by dynamite and bulldozers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shortly after restoration 30 000 new salmon fry hatched in the opened stream and the rise of Atlantic salmon doubled from 2000 to 4000 spawning fishes each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His Majesty the King had a vision that ”other hydropower owners should follow this good example and have the courage and inspiration to take action to gain biological diversity and increase opportunities for recreation and angling”.
